IROHA's History

“Hakata Ajidokoro IROHA” has been loved over 60 years by a lot of people at “Hakata-the Gourmet Town” and “Osaka-Kuidaore Town (the town where you eat until you drop).

Ichiro Izawa, the first owner, has got the name, “IROHA”, when he disciplined at Osaka, and established “Sukiyaki IROHA” in August 1953.
When he started this business, “Sukiyaki” was 250 yen per person.
“Sukiyaki has become reasonably available.” The small 2-floor store was always full of customers almost every day. Sometimes, customers had to wait for few hours. He felt sorry for the situation that they could not be seated. Then, he rebuilt the store to a 6-floor building including one basement floor in 1965. “IROHA” has become loved by more customers. Present masterpiece “Mizutaki” was born at that time.

Our business had been successful for more than 20 years.
There, however, were times when we had to meet difficulties.
It was the support from customers who sincerely love our taste that helped us get over the difficulties and to succeed the “IROHA” taste and history until today.
“Osaka-Umeda” opened in 2008.
“Osaka-Souemon” opened in 2012.
Our beloved taste and hospitality became available at Osaka where the first owner disciplined.

IROHA's Formalities

Hakata is famous for its Mizutaki.
Our masterpiece, “Mizutaki” was born in 1965. We selected the chicken of Saga Prefecture. We take time especially to extract soup with considerable care, skimming off the scum. Our mizutaki contains spinach and cabbage, and sukiyaki contains burdock. We choose the best seasonal ingredients to maximize each flavor and texture. Of course, our home-made citrus-sauce clearly emphasize the rich taste and flavor of meat and vegetable inside the pot.

Special broth is essential for our “Sukiyaki”, which was one of the most popular dishes. The broth is made from the milk which is succeeded from “IROHA” Osaka where the first owner disciplined.
You can enjoy the traditional light taste of “IROHA”.
Our new masterpiece, Shabu-shabu, was invented when we started to buy Saga beef. The refreshing taste of high quality Saga beef with our unique citrus sauce will surely entertain your appetite.

We will have served for customers for 70 years since our establishment soon after World War II.
